Motocamp trip from Costa Mesa to Big Bear and back on the Yamaha TW200 – 339 miles RoundTrip
Quick clip collection from a 2-day moto camp with a total of 339 miles round trip from Costa Mesa, California, to Big Bear, California, and back on the Yamaha TW200!
The second day was the big day as my buddy Alex met up with me in Big Bear and saw how he was simi-new here; I showed him the “most dirt way” back to Apple Valley / Victorville. The plan was to drop out of Big Bear on Coxy Road, and while we covered most of it, we wound up on Pack Memorial Trail, dropping us out at the wash just below the Mojave RiverForks Reservoir.
From there, we went to Bear Valley Road to get fuel. Alex headed home, and so did I, the long about way. I made my way over to Silverwood Lake and took Cleghorn Ridge OHV Road over the mountain. Then, I traveled across the Inland Empire to Lake Mathews and made my way over to Bedford Motor Way. This takes me up Saddleback to where Main Divide Road is, then down Maple Springs Truck Trail to Silverado Canyon, and on into Costa Mesa, California – my starting point! It was a long day at 220+ miles as Day 1 was 100’ish miles.
This particular image was shot on day one as I was making my way up the backside of Big Bear, just after I had retrieved all my camping gear scattered along the trail. It was my first moto camping trip, and I thought I had everything bungeed down well enough, but apparently not!
